Water security is said to be exist when all of the country have access to water in sufficient quantity and quality to meet livelihoods needs throughout the year. In global economic development and livelihoods of poor, they suffer the mot from it. India is not isolated from these issues as it emerges from a developing to developed nation. India accounts for 2.45% of land area and 4% water resources of the world but it represents 16% of world population, with present growth of 1.9% per year. The ever expanding water demand of the India population and economy, combined with impacts of climate change, are making water security a major threat in many parts of country.
